This original abstract expressionist painting, titled "Caer", is 36"x48" on a traditional profile canvas and is made with various mixed media. The wings of the swan have fun texturing, as you can see on one of the closeups. 

This work of art is one of the first paintings from my Dream Collection, where I interpret my own surreal dreams in combination with ancient symbolism into abstract art. The symbolism behind this painting is based loosely on Celtic mythology and the legend of Caer (pronounced Keer), the Celtic Goddess of dreams, who was a shapeshifting goddess who spent one year as a beautiful woman and the next as a swan. Caer was said to shapeshift into a swan every second Samhain (the annual Irish/Pagan festival on October 31st from which Halloween originates) and live on a lake where she could be identified separately from the other swans due to a silver chain hanging from her neck. She chose her love interest, Aengus (the Irish God of Love), and pursued him by appearing in his dreams. After she first appeared to Aengus in his dream, he set out to find her in swan form to convince her to marry him. 

The rabbit in the painting represents the dream state which lead Caer into the God of Love's dream, as hares were believed be messengers between earth and the Otherworld. The numbers 10 31 on the painting are the date of Samhain (Halloween), as clouds and a moon symbolize the nighttime journey of dreaming, and two parallel lines represent parallel universes between the waking and dreaming realms. The rabbit wears the work jumpsuit with the name tag "Echtra" which means "adventures with otherworldly beings".
